The Traditions Of A Traditional Wedding

Uncategorizedadmin20 Jul 2011

Most couples who tie the knot like to do so by having a wedding. Weddings have been around for thousands of years making them one of the oldest celebrations. Many couples today are shying away from traditional ceremonies, but there are some who still choose to have a traditional wedding.

In a traditional wedding, the groom and the rest of the wedding party walk out before the bride. After all of the wedding party has walked down the aisle, the couple exchanges vows. After the couple exchanges vows, they are pronounced husband and wife and are asked to commence their marriage by giving each other a kiss. Couples who get married in a church ceremony may also light a unity candle. Many religions believe that once a couple get married, they become one in the eyes of God.

Most weddings do not end after the ceremony. The family and friends of the couple continue to celebrate the marriage by hosting a reception. The bride and groom’s first dance and the cutting of the cake are two of the other traditions that take place at a wedding reception. The wedding reception usually concludes by the bride tossing the bouquet and the groom tossing the garter.
